Source:  Pallab Ghosh URL:  https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-64559210 Date:  24/03/2023 My critical questions:  Even after reading the article two or three times, I still have difficulty understanding science. However, the explanation the author provided helped me to understand the article's main point due to the fact that he did not overuse scientific vocabulary and instead used straightforward, understandable words. Therefore, I was wondering 'Who wrote this news ?' thus I googled the name for the background of the author and I discovered that, Pallab Ghosh , has been a science journalist for almost 40 years and He have been working for BBC News since 1989 perhaps that is the reason he wrote the article intelligibly for me. The next question that came to my thought is 'Why wasn't there a link to the source?  According to what I've read, the article doesn't include any references for examp

Title: What is gene-edited food and is it safe to eat ? Source: Pallab Ghosh URL:  https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-64559210 Date: 24/03/2023 Summary:       To produce new varieties of plants or animals, scientists use 3 types of genetic techniques: genetic modification (GM), cisgenesis, and gene editing (GE). GM means genes from different plant or animal species are added to the plant’s DNA, and cisgenesis is like GM but with genes from similar plant species added instead. Gene-editing is the newest technique that is more specific and allows scientists to snip out a small section of DNA.      Therefore, gene-edited food is a crop or meat that was made using the GE technique. For example, tomatoes from Japan contain GABA, a chemical that has a calming effect.      In addition, the article mentioned how scientists guarantee the safety of consuming food produced by three genetic techniques. However, GE food is still relatively new compared to GM food that has been consumed

Title: Can We Really Measure Implicit Bias? Maybe Not. Source: Tom Bartlett  Date: January 05, 2017 Summary: The article tells us about a study from different researchers about the relationship between implicit bias and discriminatory behavior. They mainly focus on the Implicit Association Test (IAT), which was created to measure implicit bias by following how we answer questions together with the speed and the mistakes we make. A professor of psychology, Hart Blanton, declared that the IAT is not accurate enough to rely on. Therefore, for several years he has been arguing with the IAT founder. Each of them has come up with plenty of reasons to support their point of view and evidence against each other, yet, there is still no conclusion. However, at least everyone agrees that there was not enough evidence to state that people’s behavior can change depending on their unconscious bias and the link between these two is weak. The debate was just about how and the IAT. Furthermore, another

My friends often say I look like a sloth. So, I would describe myself as a sloth because besides my look my personality also match it’s personally. I’m quite lazy and sleeping is one of my favorite things to do. In addition, I’m very relaxed and easygoing, I don’t usually rush things, I would rather take it slow and enjoy each moment gradually. Apart from laziness sloths also symbolizes patience which is something I found it hard to be.
