Summary: The article informs us about fake news intensely. The author
indicated the statistic through years from different dictionary websites to
show how fake news effectively caught people attention. This article also explains
about 2 types of fake news, misinformation and disinformation. They are both
untrue but they were made with different purpose. In addition, the author has
included some tips which help us consider news before we believe in. Lastly,
the article told us the importance and reason to know how to spot fake news.
Reaction: News has always been influencing people. In term of fake news, I
really appreciated that the author has brought out this point and share all the
helpful information about it. Therefore, people could be more aware of fake news
and be able to separate if it is true or not. I believe that this article would
improve our media literacy skill and so am I. However, it is not just us who
would improve because people would always find a new way and develop those fake
news to deceive us.
Question: Should media literacy skill like this be taught in school?
Mistakenly fake news like misinformation is understandable but what about disinformation?
Is it possible for disinformation fake news to extinct? What is the worst
thing misunderstanding from fake news could cause?
I completely agree with your blog; my mom has been deceived by fake news a couple of times, even though she is the one who told me to be careful. It is very scary for me because even adults fall for it. I hope that everyone will be aware of this problem and read this article. Teenagers, in particular, because they sometimes believe news on social media more than their parents.
